Apostille

The term Apostille is taken from the international law that describes the verification of the correctness of a signature that appears on public certificate, such as a marriage or birth certificate. The Apostille gives international legal and authentic validity to the certificate. Without an Apostille stamp, your certificate will not be valid in other countries.

Translations for Italian Authorities

In Israel, Italian translations can be performed by anyone interested, including lawyers, notaries, or professional translators. However, for a translated document to be accepted by the Italian authorities, it must carry certification that the translation is authentic and correct.

Any document submitted to an Italian public or judicial authority must include a certified translation as a condition for its validity. Naturally, when a translation is required for legal proceedings (whether inside or outside a courtroom), the importance of an Italian translation performed by an expert in Italian foreign law becomes crucial.

Attorney Tomer Gal is known to the Italian Embassy in Israel and meets the requirements for an expert in Italian foreign law.

Affidavits: Who Can Verify an Affidavit and What's Its Validity?

An affidavit is a written document where an individual declares facts from personal knowledge before a lawyer, affirming their truthfulness under a warning that carries the same legal weight as an oath. Affidavits are a key tool for presenting facts in legal and bureaucratic proceedings.

In Israel, a lawyer is the most common authority for verifying affidavits. They are authorized to do so after confirming the affiant's identity, clarifying the affidavit's content, and warning them (in place of an oath) that they must tell the truth. A lawyer's verification of an affidavit is essentially a public act, which notaries, judges, registrars, or specific public officials are also authorized to perform.

An affidavit verified by a lawyer has binding legal validity: it can serve as evidence for administrative authorities and in court. Affidavits form the basis for requests and claims, and knowingly submitting a false affidavit is a criminal offense.

Because an affidavit verified by a lawyer holds the same legal standing as an oath, many authorities require it to provide services, such as: translator's sworn affidavit verified by an Israeli lawyer for submitting foreign-language documents translated into Hebrew at Israeli Embassies, an affidavit verified by a lawyer for submitting requests to Israeli public authorities, such as the "Tabu", an affidavit verified by a lawyer for submitting requests and claims to Israeli Courts.

Please note: In Israel, only a lawyer is authorized to approve and verify affidavits digitally via video conferencing.

>>> At Gal Law Offices, you can get affidavit drafting and verification services entirely digitally and remotely, without needing to visit the office. Recognition and Enforcement of Italian Judgments in Israel

Generally, a judgment rendered in a foreign country is not automatically enforceable in Israel; it holds no validity within the State of Israel until it has been formally recognized. The process of recognizing an Italian judgment in Israel is not a mere technical procedure. It requires careful navigation between two distinct legal systems—Italian law and Israeli law—in accordance with the rules of international law.

Therefore, it is crucial to seek the assistance of an expert in Italian foreign law who is also proficient in international law. Expertise in Italian foreign law is essential to ensure that the Italian legal proceedings were proper and complete, and that they comply with the requirements of both international and Israeli law. Such an expert can identify potential obstacles in advance, such as a lack of essential documents.

Furthermore, they understand the nuances of Italian substantive law, which allows them to present the case accurately and effectively before an Israeli court. Familiarity with both Italian law and relevant Israeli case law maximizes the chances of a successful outcome, while saving unnecessary time and costs. Therefore, professional guidance from an expert is the key to converting a foreign judgment into a binding legal force in Israel.

>>> Attorney Tomer Gal meets the criteria of an expert in Italian foreign law and has extensive proficiency in international law. Declaratory Judgments

Sometimes the Israeli Population Registry reports names or other information that differs from that registered in the country of origin or citizenship of the interested party. In certain cases, and especially in the case of a deceased person, the Ministry of the Interior refuses to correct and the interested party is obliged to apply to the Israeli judiciary. Such a request is a legal claim in every sense, and the interested party must provide legal evidence that will allow him to correct the registry as requested. Attorney Tomer Gal, a member of the National and District Immigration Committee (Haifa), assists applicants in obtaining judgments that correct or declare the changes in the Population Registry.
